Main street between Old Highway 63 and Broadway

Ashland, MissouriMar 07, 20160 Comments

Speed recently changed from 30 to 20mph and stop sign taken out so now it runs straight through. Speed sign for 30 was taken down but the only 20mph sign is located on Broadway if you happen to be going south; if you turn on Main from a side road you will not see any sign with a new posted speed limit. It has been 30mph for decades. Cops sit like spiders waiting for their prey. City admins crying over low sales revenue, making it up with speed traps.

Between Ashland and Jefferson city

New one for me and I have seen a lot. Going South on Hwy 63 between Ashalnd and Jeff City, Missouri last fall on a late friday afternoon around 5:00 pm I observed A speed trap was set up with a police officer, in a brown uniform , radar gun in hand, drink cup by his side, sitting in a lawn chair high on a rock bluff on the right, hidden from north bound drivers by some scrub brush running radar. As you would travel North past him and rounding a curve and over the next hill you would find 3 police cars and several officers spread out over 5oo to 600 yards apart writting tickets as fast as they could.

Hwy 63 North, left on Liberty Dr just before Ashland Exit

As soon as you turn off Hwy 63 left on East Liberty the speed limit drops down to 25MPH. From Hwy 63 to the first stop sign 25 MPH. They always write tickets, no warnings. Doesn’t matter if you live there or out of state no mercy.

On U.S. Hwy. 63 between Jefferson City and Ashland

Ashland, MissouriMar 09, 20100 Comments

Last fall on a warm friday afternoon while I was driving from Columbia between Ashland and Jefferson City I saw a County Sheriff Deputy running radar while sitting on a lawn chair high on top of a rock bluff with a big drink cup by his side. Earlier I saw 3 police cars with speeders pulled over writting tickets as fast as they could. I knew there was a trap somewhere but could not see a car, plane or motorcycle and then I saw him – up high on the bluff. Wow that was a new one.

US Highway 63 near Just South of Ashland Exit

I’ve seen this trap twice (and been the victim once), both times on Monday mornings en route to Jeff City on Hwy 63. There are white dashes in both lanes of traffic just South of the Ashland exit. They use these lines to calculate a vehicle’s speed by airplane. They only set this up on clear days. You can pretty much speed all along 63, but slow down in between the white dashes and you’re good to go!
