Bella Villa, Missouri Speed Traps
Avenue H & Bayless Avenue
Bella Villa police will indeed stop you for any real or imagined infraction. I was stopped the other night just past City Hall on Ave H. The officer first said I didn’t stop completely at stop sign. Then gave me a ticket for “running a stop sign.” I was surprised as I know it is a speed trap and was being very careful. When I stated that I didn’t think I had run a stop sign he said “going 20 mph isn’t stopping and I’m not going to argue with you.” He spoke quite harshly and after that I didn’t say a word. I know I didn’t run that stop sign but paid the ticket anyway as it would be my word against his. I suspect most people do the same.
Bayless Ave East of 55 to Lemay Road
Usually 2 Cars, but on weekend as many as 3 or 4. Bella Villa is a small city strapped for cash and use the fines to get by. Speeding is not the issue Revenue is. Their Court is packed when in session. They sometimes will try to radar you just as you are coming into their city or just as you are leaving. A previous post indicated there is no grace speed over the posted 35…They really mean it. This city should be disincorporated and jurisdiction given to St. Louis County Police.
Bayless Avenue
Two cars act in trap. First car pulls over a vehicle. Second pulls over a second vehicle citing "move over law" even if no opportunity exist to "move over" and a safe speed is maintained.
