Hwy 54 in Missouri between Camdenton and Lake Ozark

Linn Creek, MissouriSep 11, 20130 Comments

It is what everyone says it is. Just got nailed for this less than a month ago. I was traveling at 73 mph (8 over what I thought the speed limit was) and suddenly it turned to 55 without warning and I got a $254 for being 18 over.

Total speed trap.

Municipal cop sits at bottom of hill. Speed drops quickly from 65 to 55 and he hits you at the crest of the hill before you know it.

Goes from higher speed limit to 55 unexpectedly.
In course of dealing with this ticket, I found out that this is Linn Creek’s (population 280) largest source of income ! They like to get out of state visitors because they know you can’t afford to come back and argue it on the ONE day they have in court every month that has 75 people in line and can last from 3 pm to very late. And you might just have to come back again if too many
people show. If you do go to trial, they (the one judge, P.A., police) are practically all kin so getting a fair chance is like trying to go deer hunting with a single shot rifle and blind folds on.
If you are from out of state expect to pay over double to get your speeding ticket reduced unless you hire one of the local good ole boy lawyers, but then when you get through paying him, its almost the same. The prosecuting attorney’s office is very difficult to deal with. And the court clerk pretty much the same, if you can get a hold of her since she has only very part time hours. Bottom line:
DRIVE SLOW THRU LINN CREEK ON YOUR WAY IN TO OR FROM OSAGE BEACH.
I myself am boycotting all Linn Creek businesses as my only means of protesting their vulturous attitude towards visitors.

Officers sit off the Highway, behind rock hills cut out for the highway. Have change speed limit to 55MPH for last 1 1/2 mile of city limits(west side). It is a 4 lane open road, you will not expect it.

US 54 speed limit 65 4 lane divided highway. Linn Creek PD has nothing more to do then stop people in the Lake Ozark area traveling over 65mph. The highway was built for high speed (70 and over)but watch out the bored Linn Creek PD is watching you.
