Belgrade, Montana Speed Traps
Grogan/N. Hoffman Streets
Both of these streets border and contain the middle/high school complex. Both have an extended 15 mph zone for several blocks paralleling the school properties. Catch is, it’s 24/7/365; middle of the night, Christmas morning, whatever. 15 mph is artificially slow and easily broken by even a mile or two an hour, especially on Grogan, which is a wide street. The Quaw school zone, which is on a busier street and has school buildings on either side, is a 20 mph zone. Belgrade police love Grogan St., I see them around it a lot.
Main Street
Concealed officer claims to run radar. Speed limit is purportedly 25 MPH. After I was stopped and ticketed, officer hurriedly passed me as I was starting my vehicle and had another vehicle stopped approximately 2/10ths of a mile ahead. There is no way he could have clocked that vehicle for more than a nanosecond.
