7th Street, Near Main

Bozeman, MontanaFeb 14, 20150 Comments

For reasons that can’t be anything but a trap, the town drops the speed limit for about four blocks on 7th from 35 to 25. Police sit in motel parking lot about half way into the zone.

Oak Street, near the intersection of 27th

Bozeman, MontanaMay 11, 20100 Comments

Police ususally sit on the side of the road or even on the east edge of the boulevard (facing east), catching people heading eastbound. This used to be a 25mph road, but is now a 35mph zone.
Also, this is a good spot for motorcycle police to set up.

East Main St

(Far end) East Main St going west. 45 mph to 25 mph while going down hill as you enter town.

Interstate 90 near Edge of town

Going out of Bozeman on I90 headed towards Billings. Just as you leave town there is an "authorized vehicle only" turnaround. I usually see two highway patrols talking there.

South 19th Avenue near Lincoln Street

Bozeman, MontanaMar 19, 20080 Comments

A black and white sits a block or so in distance away from 19th Ave on the drive that leads to the Marsh Laboratories (a right off 19th if heading south). This is just past the Lincoln (road to campus; a left) / 19th intersection, and just before the Kagy/19th intersection. Speed limits are posted and pretty reasonable, but many people speed up here as 19th’s limit increases past the intersections–especially if they see a green light still at the Kagy/19th light. After dark is the worst time; there is almost always a car there, especially on weekend nights. This is one of the most constant but least known about edge-of-town speedtraps.
