Ronan, Montana Speed Traps

Major route to Glacier Nat. Park. A must travel route that passes through small town. Local paper reads like a who visited Ronan this week. Very few locals listed but many out of towners and out of staters. Police can be located anywhere. Usually neer the Chamber visitor center.

Just as you enter both ends of town, the speed limit drops to 45MPH from 65. This is not unreasonable, but because the limits are in effect about a mile before there are any buildings, it is a prime place for these reservations cops to sit and wait to pull you over for anything above 3MPH. Heading north-bound, the limit takes effect at the Ford dealership, heading south-bound, just before the furniture store, Total Home.

Officer was sitting directly at the sign posting speed limit reduction with radar on and fined offender $70 (bond that required immediate payment or jail because offender lived outside of county).
