Gastonia, North Carolina Speed Traps
Cox Rd
Heading down Cox Rd toward Hwy 7, there are no speed limits signs posted. There use to be one that said 45 mph beside Carolina Urology but is no longer there. The cops sit just passed the traffic light at the intersection of Cox Rd and Court Dr.
Southbound US 321\I-85
Heading south on US 321 about a mile before the I-85 on ramp, it looked like a wasp nest when I travelled through there on my way back to Atlanta around 10 PM, but saw it too late. Got a $170 ticket for 70 in a 55. Explained to the officer that I knew I was doing 70, but sincerely thought the speed limit was still 65, to no avail – there were two other cars pulled over by the time I left. The speed limit drops from 65 down to 45, well before you hit any area congestion, and apparently pretty rapidly. I never saw any speed signs, but it was at night – thought I was going with the flow of traffic. I received letters from three different attorneys soliciting to "defend" my case. I guess an entire economy is formed around this town’s speed traps.
Getting off at 85 Exit 10 towards Gastonia
If you are traveling on 85 staying with the traffic at speeds of 70mph + becareful getting onto rt. 74 the speed limit is 55 and is not posted for over a mile on that rd. State troppers Love that rd..
Interstate I-85 near New Hope Road
There is a ST posted on the ramp from New Hope Road onto I85 North almost daily. They can’t be seen until you are all the way past the exit. Very easy to get carried away with the accelerator due to the width of the roadway and the flow of the traffic
Neil Hawkins Road
Hiding in the church parking lot, can you beleive it?
