East King Street @ US 74 bridge

Kings Mountain, North CarolinaFeb 18, 20210 Comments

Exit from US 74 onto East King Street, speed drops from 65 to 35. Local cops sit just past the 74 overpass, impossible to see them until its too late. Marked very poorly. Locals say its like shooting fish in a barrel.

Marked and unmarked local cars with state police helping during busy days. Often see 3 to 4 cop cars near the billboards along the road. Love to sit under the bridges and wait for out of state cars to come by. Rumor is radar, laser and vascar are all being used along with old school pacing, especially after dark.

Marked and unmarked KMPD units are working this area to qualify for some grant from the state. My brother-in-law works for a neighboring city police dept and saw the grant. They have to write between 20 and 30 tickets a day in this area to get the grant money. Supposed to be just short of a million, so you KNOW they are writing everything that moves !!! Driver beware !!!!

US 74 @ Oak Grove Rd, Westbound on ramp

1 or 2 NC SHP cars will sit near the bridge overlooking 74W. By the time you could see them, your speed is locked in. They occasionally will clock eastbound traffic as well.

Rest areas both directions I-85, right across NC line

Unmarked Explorers clocking speeds for multiple units (5-6) picking up tickets up the road. Unmarked Mustang beyond that getting secondary speeders.
