Thatcher, Arizona Speed Traps
Intersection at Hwy 70 and 20th Ave at Walgreens/Safeway
PoPo sits in dirt lot at NorthWest corner of intersection behind berm of dirt clocking traffic leaving the light heading West, and traffic entering going East. If you enter or leave the light quickly going West, you might get nailed. As you approach from the West, he might get you if you have not reduced speed to 35 mph.
8th Street, heading west, approaching 1st Ave
Right near the ridiculous new houses (new houses in a stinking horrible location), the cops will hide in the entrances to a new "subdivision" on the north side of 8th St. The wall and scrubby trees block the view until it is too late.
1st. Ave. heading south from 8th. St.
Speed limit has been in flux here for some time. It is technically county for about 200 yards, but that doesn’t stop a Thatcher PD from staking out the area. Also be aware that Thatcher PD lives in the area, as do a couple Highway Patrol officers. They want your money!!!
US 70 in Thatcher school zone
Traffic on US 70 is forced to slow to 15 MPH when the signs are up, usually from around 7 am to 3:30 PM on schooldays. This area is a pain in the butt when school is in session. Just remember the 15 mph zone starts at the portable sign, not at the crosswalk
