Speed on this street outside the town limits is 55 mph and suddenly decreases to 35 mph while in the town limits. Police often camp-out at bottom of S-curve where traffic is often either coming down the hill leaving Southern Pines or as they’re coming back from Ft. Bragg at 55mph.

Pee Dee Rd & Newton Dr

Southern Pines, North CarolinaJul 03, 20090 Comments

This site is actually used to train police radar operators. The speed limit falls from 45 mph to 35 mph as the driver enters Pee Dee Road from Highway 22. Police wait on the right side of the road in a blind curve. Coverage is also good from the opposite direction because of an obscuring rise.
