Wakefield, New Hampshire Speed Traps
NH 16 @ NH 109
Cruisers generally sit near the entrance of the White Mountain Walk-In Clinic, just north of the intersection of 16 and 109.
Heading SB the speed limit drops from 55 to 40 as you approach. Heading NB the speed limit stays 40 until well after the clinic.
Route 16
I travel Route 16 between Wakefield and Chocorua (about 35-40 mile stretch) late night (11pm-1pm) weekdays and I am followed about 20-25% of the time by the State Police, who hide everywhere, or just bang a U-turn and follow you. Unbelieveably I’ve never been pulled over (though I have seen others). Most of the route is posted 55, and I run my cruise control at 61 (enough to be followed, but not enough to be pulled over I guess). This road is very quiet at night and I see a cruiser about 80% of the time, so if you do travel this road late night, 61 mph is your best bet — and even with radar detectors, with no trafiic in front of you to elicit the cops turning on their radar unit, chances are when your detector goes off, well it’s too late… tou’ve been had!
