Vancouver, British Columbia Speed Traps
Granville St & W32nd Ave. Southbound
Southbound after long run from lights at King Edward (lights at Nanton are sporadic only and operate only on walk request from pedestrians). On right side of road, usually not in rush hour but very often on weekend afternoons (say 1 in 3 weekend afternoons) particularly if it is sunny. Limit is 50 kph but traffic normally travels at 65-70-75 kph.
Denman Street and West Georgia
Not a speed trap but still a trap. Anyone turning right from Denman onto Georgia towards Stanley Park from 3pm-7pm (Mon-Fri) will most likely find officers looking right at you telling you to pull over. Instant $121 fine.
Marine drive between Kerr and Victoria.
Cops are hiding in the alley. Slow down. Spotted at 3:15pm Tue. Jan.10.
SW Marine Drive, UBC
They’re back this week. Spotted UEL RCMP (white, marked car) for westbound traffic located at Westbrook & Marine, illegally stopped on the edge of the right turn lane where it is posted as “No Stopping”. This site becomes visible after rounding the curve. Not just illegal, it’s a foolish, dangerous place to be a road-side distraction. Also spotted this morning for east-bound traffic hiding among the trees where the speed limit drops from 60 to 50km/h, about 400 metres west of their usual hideout that is nearer to 41st ave.
Marine drive past boundary. North side.
Cops hiding on bikes in alley. Using radar as people come to a light.
