Hwy 255 aka Samoa Blvd entering Arcata from Manila

The speed on Hwy 255 between Manila and Arcata is 55 but suddenly drops to 35 a couple of hundred yards west of the first light at L Street. The CHP will nail you if have not reduce your speed immediately after passing the 35 mph sign. Especially if you are driving an older car, one with body damage or one that they think is suspicious. I was driving my work car with tools in the trunk and was asked what was in the trunk and if he could look there. I ignored the question and handed him my license and insurance card. When asked a second time, I said what is it you are suspicious of? End of conversation. Then I was asked if I had been drinking to which I replied that I don’t drink. I was polite and received a ticket for 5 mph over the 35 mph speed limit.

CHP sets off the highway on a side road with good view of vehicles in both directions. Usually at the bottom of a grade and at the end of one of the few passing lanes along this section of highway. Usually a Ford Bronco in standard CHP white on black.
