One small road construction sign with a small cone zone – then open road for the next 11 miles. There are no workers, no equipment, no road construction supplies or materials at all for 11 miles (the entire "construction" zone) until the end of construction with a few orange cones and signs.
Near west side city limits on eastbound 380
As you near Carrizozo eastbound on 380 the local law likes to park on a street to the right, appearing to be waiting to enter the road but they’re running a little $$ scam. Highway 380 functions as an alternate east-west interstate and the locals like to have you pay for the privilege of using it. For the most part on 380 between San Antonio and Carrizozo you can run it hard but watch Barney Fife in ‘zozo!

The Town Of Carrizozo Police Dept. Is A Department That Consists Of 3 Police Officers! These Officers Anytime Of The Day Sit And Run Traffic On Highway 54 South Towards Alamogordo New Mexico And Also All Incoming Traffic From Alamogordo Into Carrizozo! The Speed Limit Drops From 55mph To 25mph In The Blink Of An Eye.. Please Be Careful When Coming Into Carrizozo New Mexico! I Will Find More Traps To Have Posted…

State Highway 54 near State Highway 70
This is The only highway intersection in Carrizozo and both roads are major substitutes for an interstate across New Mexico. Especially watch southbound highway 70 as its posted speed drops quickly coming into this small town. The speed along this highway is 55 mph, and being a major north-south truck route the NM Highway Patrol regularly bangs truckers.
