On I-40 before Mesilla exit

Mesilla, New MexicoJan 09, 20130 Comments

A state trooper sits in the bowl of the hill with a temporary yellow decrease in speed sign from 75 to 60 that lasts less than 1/2 mile. No warnings, just an abrupt drop. The 75 mph limit goes back up right after the hill levels.

Mesilla Marshall sits parallel to Calle Del Norte right where the 30 mph sign goes to 45 mph at Paisano and Calle Del Note, and can easily — and always — "backs you up" with his radar to make sure you are "in" 30 mph zone when you actually are in 45 mph zone. Be very cognizant of EXACTLY where you are; don’t accellerate when you see the 45 mph sign….just wait till you actually reach or pass it or he’ll nab you with 45 in a 30, even though you technically can begin to speed up at that point. Gets you at a very vulnerable spot.

In front of San Andreas High School there is a 15 mph school zone that seems to operate all day long. Flashing lights are very close to a stoplight, so the unwary motorist concentrating on the stoplight will not see it. Town has invested more in catching violaters than providing proper warnings to slow down traffic.
