Rt 94 toward Pulaski

Florida, New YorkJun 03, 20110 Comments

This rambling side road that cuts through the black dirt farms is notorious for traps. The road is 30 mph from 17 to the midway bridge, at which point it’s 55, but speed after the bridge is not posted. Cops will park in any number of areas and will stop you for only going a few miles over 30. I’ve seen cops line up behind a few of the businesses on that stretch to take turns pulling people over.

Village police sit in driveways and other locations all along the road. They Have been known to give tickets for even a few miles over the limit.

State Route 94 near Great Dane Sign

Florida, New YorkMar 27, 20060 Comments

This trap is known to nab many out-of-towners, or those simply unfamiliar with the area. Whether you’re heading out towards Chester or coming down into Florida on Rt 94, there’s a small open lot next to the Great Dane sign (slightly after the "Village of Florida" sign). Speed limit is 35 on the road, but opens up to 55 as you’re leaving Florida. People accelerating to 55 to leave town, or those not slowing to 35 as they enter Florida are fair game. Probably the most common trap in Florida, NY.
