Rt 9w north

Saugerties, New YorkMar 16, 20110 Comments

On 9w north (just past the plaza on your left), before you enter the village and go down the hill, the speed limit changes from 45 to 30 mph. The police like to sit in the G Tech parking lot or in the Knights of Columbus parking lot. There are a series of sharp turns by a church in the area.

9W North Leaving the Village Towards Catskill

Saugerties, New YorkFeb 21, 20110 Comments

Driving out of Saugerties village on Main St or 9W, north towards Catskill…from the movie theater to the curve by Diaz Ambulance there is a speed trap. Also around the curve and into Malden the sign says 30mph but looks like open road and it’s very easy to pick up speed. They wait just across from Diaz Ambulance and other nooks, and then if you are going any mph over the speed limit beware! Wait for the 45mph sign after Seamon Park to pick up speed again. Many tickets are issued from the movie theater to the 45mph sign.

State Route Rte 9W North near Finger Street

Going north on 9W from the village of Saugerties. Speed trap between Diaz Ambulance and just after Seamon Park where the speed limit changes from 30 mph to 45 mph. I was going 37 mph according to the state trooper and hadn’t simmed my high beams. I was fortunate to have gotten out of the ticket but others are not always so lucky. Road is patrolled by both Village, Town officers and State Troopers. Ugh!
