Plank road Nbound just as you enter Village

Westfield, New YorkMar 25, 20150 Comments

Posted speed of 30mph sign is obstructed by Welcome to Village of Westfield sign. Pleaded guilty to speeding but showed judge pictures of sign, he agreed dropped the speeding violation but still had to pay court costs of about $60. It is well known in the local area that Westfield has a very aggressive traffic enforcement program. Because of these policies most of us locals avoid driving, parking and doing business in the Village. Perhaps the business community should take note.

Rt 20 and 394 in Village limits

The village police are quite diligent- especially in the middle of the night. Doesn’t matter if you are from the area or not. If you happen to be the only car on the road, expect to see a local cop follow you. They have been known to pull people over and inform them they smell alcohol, even when nobody has had a drop!

Heading East out of town there used to be a Tasty Freeze on the corner – the building is still there and the police hide behind the east side so you can’t see them until it’s too late.

Ok so we are not from New York, have a house in Chautauqua. Came to Westfield to fish. Going through Westfield past the big old homes its 35. There is no place for cops to hide so you assume to speed up because soon your in the country on 394. There is a street that runs off of 394 where a sherriff was sitting. You can see the 55 mph sign when you pass him. I was only going 50 but he came out and got me. You cant see him going either way until you look in your rearview and he got you. I told him i was from out of town and he gave me a verbal. Not too bad of a cop but he went right back down to the same spot after he got me.

A cop car likes to either park by the WACS school and you think it’s just the crossing guard car but it isn’t, or they back into the driveway of the old cemetery on Main street.
