Route 44 North and South

Grand River, OhioApr 17, 20120 Comments

Mainly summer months due to large number of visitors to nearby Headlands Beach. What they do is they sit on the median strip between both lanes (usually just past the curve if your heading from Route 2). This spot makes a lot of money for this very tiny village that out of towners don’t even know exists. More often than not, the vehicle pulled over is from outside Ohio.

The Police vehicle hides on a curve in Rte. 44( a four lane route) and catches people leaving a 35mph zone.

State Route 283 Lakeshore Blvd. near Grand River line

As soon as you cross from Mentor into Grand Rievr the speed limit drops to 35 right before the Post Office. The officers give little room to reduce speed.

Coasting doesn’t work here. Brake immediatly upon entering Grand River. I have NO idea why it is 25 here. It is a main road, with commercial buildings along it all over. Should stay 35.

The only warning you have is a rusty, worn out "REDUCE SPEED AHEAD" sign in Mentor and a "25 MPH" sign out of line of sight from the road once you hit Grand River.

I-44N and S

The patrolman will sit in his/her cruiser anywhere on I-44 usually on the side of the interstate on both North bound and South bound sides. They will also sit in the entrance way to Mentor Headlands Park facing south bound and get your for speeding or for running the stop sign that they placed for (your convenience) where I-44 ends.

SR 283 and River St

Grand River, OhioMar 01, 20020 Comments

Patrol vehicles sit on both the north and south sides of SR 283 around the area of River Rd. Before you enter this quaint little town, the speed limit on 283 is 35 mph. Once you hit Grand River it turns to 25 mph. There is a warning sign before you enter the village though, about 1/8 of a mile outside the town line.
