West Hines Hill Road between New Route 8 and Olde 8

Hudson, OhioAug 21, 20111 Comments

The 35 mph speed limit continues from E. Hines Hill across the new Route 8 overpass, through the traffic light at Frontage Road when it becomes W. Hines Hill Road, it suddenly changes to 25 mph (where the old Boston Hills Golf Course used to be). There is no advance warning that the speed limit is going to change. The cops hide on the north side of the road in the back end of the old paved lot where the golf carts used to be. This 25 mph speed limit remains for it entire length of W. Hines Hill until you finally get to Boston Township and it converts back to 35mph.

Psychologically, they set you up. Slower traffic right two lanes. (How slow…45?) in a 70 mph zone. They sit in the
toll (already ) highway in between the East and Westbound lanes with a laser gun covered by concrete barriers and guard rails and the like. I had not had a ticket in 23 years.

Hudson High School

Watch going south on Stow Road. They sit in the parking lot just past the ball field facing north. I have seen the radar gun out. That school has a lot of activity and people should be careful and keep their awareness up around there.

I’ve been seeing them sitting in the parking lot at the Hudson Swim Club since it went up for sale.

Prospect Street near Bridge over the Ohio Turnpike

Hudson, OhioApr 14, 20080 Comments

Driving southeast on Prospect Street (heading into town) there is a speed trap occasionally after you cross the bridge over the Ohio Turnpike. Right after the bridge, the road curves, and there are two blind spots where HPD sits. The speed limit is 35mph, and just to note, I have never been pulled over there before or seen anybody pulled over there before. If you are speeding and see a cruiser, I have heard from an HPD officer that it is a good idea to slow down anyway for good measure, regardless of whether you think you’re caught – you’ll more than likely end up with a warning. I have been pulled over four times by HPD (I am a resident) and not once have I been ticked. They are generally very nice, however they sometimes give kids a bad rap.
