Cupertino, California Speed Traps
280 near Wolfe
Several CHPs in this area as of June 22, all on the southbound side of the road.
Stevens Creek Boulevard near Interstate 85 Off-Ramp-Northbound
There is usually a motor offficer sitting behind bushes in the DeAnza College exit (at the top of the Northbound 85 off ramp at Stevens Creek). There is no right turn on red coming off the freeway and they sit there waiting for people to turn right.
Bubb Road near Stevens Creek Boulevard
Santa Clara Sheriffs in cars or on motorcycle typically hide in the driveways of the companies along this road, looking for people going over 35mph. You can see them there most weekday mornings, usually watching southbound traffic.
Stevens Creek Boulevard near Foothill Expressway
On Stevens Creek Blvd., between Byrne Ave. and Foothill Expressway, the road dips down steeply into a valley. Do NOT go over 35mph here, no matter how much it makes sense to rev up to go up the steep hills. The Santa Clara Sheriffs hang out at the Blue Pheasant (in the valley) and can be routinely seen pulling over hapless people trying to get some speed to go up the hills. Either direction.
Stevens Creek Boulevard near Phar Lap Drive
Located on Stevens Creek Blvd. about 1/4 mile east of Foothill Blvd., right as you hit the bottom of the hill and pass over Stevens Creek (i.e. the creek, not the road; just over the bridge). You’ll often see an officer sitting off to the side of the Blue Pheasant’s parking lot, on the corner of Phar Lap, near the dirt driveway of the old Stockelmeir house, or even up at the top of the corresponding hill 150 yds away, but wherever he is, you’ll only catch a glimpse of him once you’ve already hit the bottom of the hill, as his presence is otherwise obscured from view when coming down. It’s easy to pick up speed coming down the hill, especially since the 40 mph limit coming off of Foothill changes to 35 at Stevens Creeka fact that is easy to overlook.
