It’s always been a corrupt speedtrap.

On the edges of town on US40, the 55 mph signs would be frequently knocked over and the Police would sit in the area waiting to bust people going over 35 for more ticket revenue. They also used to have a car on I-70 which is just south of Kirkersville. They would get people on I-70 despite the fact that it’s just put of the town’s jurisdiction.

goes from 55 to 35 then 25 all in a village less than 300 yards long. It is next to National Trails Raceway and revenue from tickets pays for everything in that little village.

These guys arbitrarily show up at the entrance/exit ramps at the 122 mile post and start picking people off with radar, mostly. Their enforcement is closely tied to budgetary concerns of the small town they come from. For the size of the town, the cops are many and well equipped.
