Marietta, OH – Greene St. Between Industry Rd. & Caywood Rd.

Marietta, OhioMar 17, 20150 Comments

This half-mile stretch (+/-) of Greene Street/SR26 between Industry Road and Caywood Road (Co. Rd. 16) has been known to have a State Highway Patrol presence at times, especially during high traffic times or events in the city. The catch about this area is that coming from a city street at 35 MPH which abruptly speeds up/down to 45 MPH (or vice versa) just as you peak the crest of the hill where the entrance to the Broughton Foods plant is. The bad part is that it’s hard to watch your speed when the two-lane road is built for faster travel speeds and the fact most people look to get a run up the hill so they’re not revving their engines. Keep an eye out.

Marietta, OH – Virginia Street Exit/OH SR7

Marietta, OhioMar 17, 20150 Comments

The Virginia Street exit off of Ohio SR-7 has on occasion been a place where Ohio Highway Patrol like to catch motorists for speed violations and fining or warnings. Virginia St. connects directly to Ohio SR-550 in an underpass that is also an exit/on-ramp for OH-7. The nature of Virginia St. and its being a thoroughfare for the Harmar side of Marietta can compensate for a higher speed of traffic than posted. Yet, the portion of Virginia St. between OH-550 and just under the exit is 35 MPH. HOWEVER: If not paying close attention, you’ll miss the rapid change in the posted speed to 25 MPH (just on the other side of the exit’s underpass), as most or all other streets in the city are. Factoring in that OSHP may be waiting, it certainly (at times) can be a trap.

I 77 WV/OH state line

Right as you come over the bridge the speed limit drops from 70 to 65. Often times there is a state trooper behind a cement barrier shooting laser once you get off the bridge into Ohio. Usually look for out of state cars.

I-77 7 miles north of Ohio river

I travel I-77 frequently. In the 45 miles from I-70 to the WV line, I rarely see OSP, but if I do, it is in the last 7 miles of I-77 between the 2 Marietta exits. They are always waiting around Marrietta. Take your time and save your fines and court costs.
