St.Rt. 95 just West of Mile Post 19 East of Menards

Marion, OhioOct 28, 20190 Comments

When drivers are westbound on St. Rt. 95, which is a 55 mph road, just west of milepost 19 there is a 35 mph ahead warning sign. However there is not enough distance to get slowed down before the 35 mph sign which is still east of the first Menards entry! State Patrol really like this area as they are usually close by. It happened to me too, late afternoon this past LABOR DAY. I went to court, State patrolman coming eastbound says he “visually” thought I was speeding so he passed me, looked right at me and flipped around near Day Spring Church, then being 2 cars back behind me at which point he says he then clicked in on me but I then traveled 35 mph through 3 traffic lights, past U.S. 23, THROUGH THE 4th traffic light just west of U.S.23, then PAST MILEPOST 18! Just beyond that the car directly behind me turned off and this OSP THEN puts his flashers on me at the turning lane in to Edgefield Drive at Chipotles! Asked him TWICE to see the radar reading after he immediately asked me if I was hiding something in “that little purse!” And then “What are you doing over here in Marion?” I’m 71, female, drive 98% of the time due to husbands illness, have impeccable driving record and had my witness! I lost! Did I feel this was a speed trap? YES! Marion Munincipal Courts make lots of money from this area. I am told as OSP seems to focus on the area where the speed limit drops from 55 to 35! This particular officer, I was told, was in court most of the day! What’s that tell you? BIG SPEED TRAP!

Coming from the east the speed limit drops from 55 to 45 be fore US 23 then to 35 just east of US 23. Stae Patrol and deputies sit in empty lot or in parking lot of the high school.

The stretch of road is heavily patrolled. The state patrol and sherrif always has someone stopped on this road. They do a round robin from Waldo to 95.

St. Rt 4(south of Barks Rd.)

Coming into Marion on Rt 4 from the South, when you cross the railroad tracks the speed limit drops to 40 mph. The cops like to sit at the old bowling alley on the East side of the road and watch traffic coming from both directions. Sneaky…..

STATE RTE 23 and RTE 4

Marion, OhioMar 11, 20100 Comments

I have seen as many as 4 state troopers sitting on st rte 4 checking the traffic on north and south bound traffic on st rte 23, if you are not in a semi or lifted truck you will never see them
