West side of town on route 250   Mount Eaton, Ohio

The speed limit is 35 mph through town, if you're going west, at the end of town there is a hill you will go down that will quickly increase your speed to 50 mph, followed by another small hill that you have to increase speed to get up. About 100 feet from that is the 55 mph sign, (which gets moved further away each year). The cop will sit at the bottom of the hill and tag you right after the second hill.

Rt. 250 East at the edge of town   Mount Eaton, Ohio

Coming home to New Philadelphia from Cedar Point one Sunday night years ago very late, very tired, and virtually no traffic on the road, I didn't even realize I had happened upon a town. I was probably doing about 55 when I realized it (couln't have been very far inside the city limits at all), so I slowed down to 35 fairly quickly. Made it clear out to the other end of town (maybe even outside the city limits) when on came the flashing lights and blinding spotlight, and a John Wayne local cop comes up to the car and tells me he by all rights could arrest me for going 55 through a residential neighborhood. I took the ticket, what else could I do, and unfortunately wasn't available to contest it so I paid the fine. Lousy ending to a great day....maybe 20 miles from home.

N Market St & North Aly   Mount Eaton, Ohio

Just as you are turning off 250, going uphill you suddenly find yourself in a school zone with, of course a cop sitting there with radar before you even have time to slow down. I got a ticket 5 minutes before the school zone time limit ended. They allow a very generous time frame for children to go to school--very generous. So, I'll never buy anything in Mt. Eaton again--business loses everytime the governing body gets greedy.

US Highway 250 near Mt. Eaton Welcome sign   Mount Eaton, Ohio

As you come into the town from the West, there is a hill and a cluster of signs, one a speed limit sign (35). It is hard to see and the town cops will sit on a residential road, hidden and use radar as you come down the hill into a valley. Coming from the East, it is flat and the will use radar while they sit in "Ruby's" restaurant parking lot. If the arent at either of there places, a cop may be sitting at the fire station right in the middle of town. Coming down the hill from the west is a very easy place to get ticketed if you are not familiar with the area.

US 250   Mount Eaton, Ohio

No matter if you are east bound or west bound, entering Mt.Eaton is dangerous!Going westbound officers hide in a small resteraunt(east end) parking lot and wait. The speed goes from 55 to 35.before you know it your clocked.Leaving and entering on the west end of this 2 trafficlight town is a double wammy. When headed east you go down a large hill, the speed limit changes half way down.(55 to 35)The officers sit on a small street half way up the other side and wait.It is just as easy for them when you leave the town headed west.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
