State Route 8 near Sagamore Road   Northfield, Ohio

The cruisers like to sit in the old Burger King parking lot (now a karate studio) just south of Sagamore Road, the bakery parking lot just south of Sagamore Road, or the exit out of Northfield Park across from Sagamore Road.

State Route 8 near Entire City Limits   Northfield, Ohio

Rt. 8 through the entire city limits of Northfield Ohio is one long speed trap. Speeding tickets are one of the city's only sources of income and apparently they tell their officers to get out there and Write Write Write. At the outskirts of town, the speed limit is 50. One stoplight later it's 25 and you'd better not be going more than 29 or you'll be $150 poorer. Their "mayor's court" sessions are standing room only.

State Route 8   Northfield, Ohio

Speed limit on main thoroughfare through city is 25mph. Policeman in my case did a u-turn just as I was about to enter city limits, but not yet there. I was traveling at 35mph, car in front same speed. Both of us pulled over when the lights came on because we thought officer was responding to an emergency. I was ticketed, didn't get the plate number of other car as it pulled away. Policeman ticketed me for going 47mph, and said he also clocked the car in front of me at 35 which was not possible. In Mayor's Court, I logged the number of people who were also ticketed for going 47mph, and the number was staggering. Someone walked up to me and escorted me to the Mayor's office where I was asked if I intended to dispute the ticket, so I knew I was being watched during the court session. When I said I was, I was told to leave the courtroom, obviously because I was considered a disruption to their court. I consider the $35 total I ultimately paid in Cuyahoga Court a win, because had I not contested it, I would have had to pay $125 to Northfield. $20 of the total I paid was for court costs. This occurred about 12 years ago, and I'll never forget how very wrong that was. There is nothing that could make me drive through that city again.

the local finest camp out at the vacant Burger King, 1/4 south of the racetrack and just line the cities pockets in the evening. On live racing nights you can guarantee they will be there

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
