East on Firestone Blvd. & West of 605.   Downey, California

Going west on Firestone Blvd. from the 605...Just past Champion Dodge(on a downhill), sits a Downy Motors Officer. The speed limit is 40 mph & going downhill everyone goes 50 mph(6 lane highway). Note that Downey has many places where they do this @ $300.00 a pop.

Dollison Dr & Fairford Ave   Downey, California

Please be advised of Downey Police Department running a speed trap on Dollison Drive. This is the short stretch that runs along the 5 freeway. The Officer gets his bike up on the sidewalk a couple of blocks from the 5 onramp. His bike is obscured from south bound traffic by the trees. He then stands by a tree & observes cars that have just started coming around the right angle curve toward him. Note that any pedestrians that might be on the sidewalk(which I must admit are non-existent) would have to walk in the street to get by. He then stands in the middle of the street and waves cars to stop one-by-one. He is fairly short and wearing black. Until you get close, you aren't sure who or what he is doing. The speed is purposely marked at 25 mph before you make the right angle turn towards him. Then no signs until the next 25 mph sign after his position as you start to enter a residential street. Then there are signs that state 30 mph? A pure and simple SPEED TRAP!!!! Does Downey really need the revenue that bad? BOO on them.
