I-271 exit Broadway, east on Broadway before Macedonia Road

Oakwood, OhioMar 26, 20140 Comments

Its an immediate 25 mph zone as soon as you exit east on Broadway off I-271. Oakwood police sit in ambush inside the parking lots of businesses there and dart out when anyone “speeding” over 25 mph goes past them. I thought they were in pursuit of a bank robber when this particular officer proceeded to speed through a parking lot just to get behind me and pull me over (I was driving a mini-van clocked at 43 mph in a 25 mph zone). I had never been on this road before at this exit area since I am from 50 miles south of this town of Oakwood. I did not see the 25 mph sign or I would have heeded it. Yes I am guilty but the officer would not even consider a warning but issued me a ticket in the amount of $161.00!! Clearly this is a speed trap area to assist in income for the city of Oakwood! I would be willing to bet the Oakwood police officers have a “quota” to reach each month and probably get incentives to reach their quota. This particular police officer seemed desparate in his approach of me on that particular day.

271 North after 480 overpass

Oakwood, OhioNov 20, 20100 Comments

In the early hours of the morning the police often sit in the cross over just after the I-480 overpass watching traffic on N I-271 and those entering from W I-480. It’s still dark and the cruiser is almost impossible to see.

Patterson Road at Acorn

Oakwood, OhioApr 06, 20100 Comments

A police car will sit on Acorn Road facing Patterson. This is only one block inside the Oakwood line. The police car will either be on the North side of Patterson hidden by a large apartment building or on the South side of Patterson hidden by a row of large bushes. The road goes from 35 to 25 MPH at that spot and a lot of cars get caught before they notice the sign.

Any Main Road Street

If you speed through Oakwood you are going to get a ticket. I can’t tell you how many times in the 5 years I lived in Kettering someone zoomed past me in Oakwood going 10+ mph over the limit only to get pulled over a few blocks down the road. They don’t have anything else to do in Oakwood! Never, ever, ever speed in a school zone. If the light is blinking slow down because 80 – 90% of the time there is a cop somewhere waiting for you.

Far Hills Avenue near Shafor Boulevard

Oakwood, OhioSep 21, 20070 Comments

Officer parks headed north or south along Far Hills Avenue in the traffic island area. This is a 35 MPH area, but it’s easy to go 50 MPH in the down-hill area.
