Chelsea, Alabama Speed Traps
State Highway 280 near Between State Routes 41 and 47
Normal citizen traffic patterns are between 60 and 75 mph. They have added several traffic lights in the last couple of years and reduced the limit to an unbeleivable 45 mph, for a four lane hwy. If traveling from the North or South, speed limits are 55 mph before entering this zone. State and County Law enforcement can be heavy at times. Roads are slightly hilly and they are usually in the middle.

County Road 36 two miles before intersecting with County Rd 11.
County Road 36 two miles before intersecting with County Rd 11. This is going down the mountain and all of a sudden the speed limit drops to 30 miles per hour. There is no way to make it up that mountain at 30 mph and you can kill your brakes trying to go down it at 30. It is just short stretch of that road that is at that speed and it is strickly enforced. By the way it is the only stretch of that road that belongs to Pelham and not Chelsea. Highly enforced during daytime.
