Carlson Ave. and San Pablo Ave.   El Cerrito, California

The El Cerrito police sit on their motorcycles at the car Wash, behind the sign and Ticket people left and right. Not only that, but they are parked in a different city (Albany) and a different County (Contra Costa County) Albany is in Alameda County. Is this Illegal ? They also park in the Wells Fargo Bank Parking lot (In Albany, Alameda County) as well as the Mechanics Bank Parking lot (In El Cerrito, Contra Costa County) Also they park there at night, in their cars, with NO lights on... Isn't that Illegal too ?

San Pablo & Cutting   El Cerrito, California

Motorcycle cops as well as patrol cars looking for speeding, forgetting to signal, talking on the phone and not wearing seat belts. Often times will use radar. From San Pablo & Manila to San Pablo & Wall. Often will hide in driveway of Big 5, Denny's, Walgreens, etc.

Central Avenue, East of freeway entrance   El Cerrito, California

Radar used by officer in police car. The speed limit is 30 for the two blocks closest to the freeway and 25 after that. The radar is mainly for cars going westbound to the freeway, but I have seen the speed trap facing both ways mainly in the commute hours.

Barrett Ave & Sonoma St   El Cerrito, California

El Cerrito police are using LIDAR to detect speeders in this 25mph zone. I was clocked going 37mph and I try very hard to avoid speeding. What led to this? I believe it is faster normal traffic speeds, combined with short viewing distance from the side street I live on just two blocks away. I have to go fast and then get my bearings in order to merge onto this busy street (also going downhill) safely before I can check my speed. I have contacted the city planning office to determine when the last traffic engineering studies have been done.

Arlington Avenue near Moeser Lane   El Cerrito, California

On Arlington Avenue, between Moeser Lane to the south and Barrett Avenue to the North, that stretch of road is heavily monitored by El Cerrito Police using radar. The speed limit is 25MPH, however one must brake constantly down the steep hills in order to avoid exceeding the speed limit. El Cerrito Police with radar often park hidden behind bushes/trees at the corners of side streets or behind other parked cars to avoid detection. Normally, but not always, they are located on the left side of the street if you are driving from South to North (i.e. driving from Moeser towards Barrett). If you exceed the speed limit by any measurable amount while being monitored, you will get nailed.
