I-75 near State Route 73 Exit

Coming from the South you’ll go up a hill and at the crest of it there’s a bridge and it opens up to 4 lanes, DO NOT SPEED because cutting through the hill of the median is a spot where there will almost always be a HP car, you won’t see them until it’s too late, from the north it’s just after the first left lane ends sign

Sharts and Pleasant Valley Rd.

Springboro, OhioJun 19, 20120 Comments

Springboro Police will position their police car just past Pleasant Valey Road in the driveway of the vacant building on the corner of Sharts and Pleasant Valley Rd. It is hard to see the car there because of telephone poles and a big “For Sale” sign post for the same building. This is a speed trap for several reason, the most obvious is because of the difficulty of seeing the police car. However, when the police car is sitting at this location, it has been position in a place that WILL cause false readings. The police car and Radar unit is surrounded by Power Lines and a Transformer substation, not to mention many reflective “No Parking” signs that can reflect/interfere with the radar wave to return a false reading to the radar unit. In the Manual for the Python II and III (radar that Springboro uses), it states that Power transformers WILL cause false readings. Every time the Springboro police use Radar at this location, false readings are very likely to occur. Unfortunately the Springboro Police think their radar units are “special” and never ever give a false reading, even when positioned in a place that the manufacturer (MPH) states in the manual that false reads will occur when near power transformers (like a sub station). If you choose to fight this, be ready to appeal the Mayor court decision. The Mayor court also thinks the Springboro radar never fails and does not seem to like to hear evidence counter to that point. I suggest you do some homework and show that this location is nothing more than a speed trap.

Police will sit in a hidden location. My understanding in the state of Ohio the patrol car must be visibale to on coming traffic when performing speed checks. This is definitly a speed trap and could be illegal.

Lower Springboro at Pioneer Road

Springboro, OhioMay 03, 20100 Comments

A short section of Lower Springboro Rd. is in Clearcreek Twp., out of Springboro city limits — it is 45 mph. Then as you go west, at Factory Rd. it is back in the city again and dips down to 25. Police like to sit in the new Milo Beck park and run radar. If you take your time slowing down from 45 to 25, they’ll get you.

They get you the other way too (headed east), often sitting in the water treatment plant’s parking lot.

Lower Springboro/East Mill, East of Main Street (741)

Traveling west toward Main St on Lower Springboro Rd (aka E. Mill St.) the speed limit drops from 35 to 25 without warning near the Springboro Public Works building and Mound Steel Corp. Cops always hiding in driveway to the right or at Public Works to catch those who don’t slow down immediately.
