Lunn road between Pearl Raod and Prospect Rd.   Strongsville, Ohio

Strongsville High School is on Lunn Road which has many hills and the Police find many creative places to hide in wait for motorists to exced the 25 MPH speed limit which drops for a considerable distance during school hours to 20 MPH.

NB on I-71 North of Rt 82   Strongsville, Ohio

Police Cruiser backs his vehicle perpendicular to I-71 on East side behind a guard rail. Huge overhead ODOT signs block you from seeing him until it is too late... They are there daily with Laser guns and are getting people coming down entrance ramp from the STRONGSVILLE MALL AREA getting on I-71 Northbound in the far right hand lane.

North side of Sprague Rd., just East of Pearl Rd.   Strongsville, Ohio

I see a cop at this speed trap at least twice a week on my commute to/from work. A cop car camps out in the parking lot of York Insurance Services Group (16560 Commerce Ct., 44130: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=york+insurance+services+group+strongsville+ohio&sll=41.410036,-81.839426&sspn=0.380568,0.617294&ie=UTF8&hq=york+insurance+services+group&hnear=Strongsville,+OH&ll=41.351025,-81.814451&spn=0.002976,0.004823&t=h&z=18&iwloc=A ) on the North side of Sprague Rd. and guns the Westbound traffic on Sprague. I have a good Beltronics radar detector, and the cops there normally use Ka-radar, but once or twice I have picked up laser. This means be very careful, because if they get you with laser, they have an instantaneous lock on your speed (unlike with normal radar). On occasion, the cop car will instead be in the parking lot of the building just East of York Insurance Services Group, still on the North side of Sprague. Speed limit in this area is 35mph, but most people do 40-45mph, so it is easy to get caught going a bit fast. Beware!

South side of Whitney Rd., East of Pearl, West of Webster   Strongsville, Ohio

This speed trap is not used very often, but I see it used about once a month or so (I live in the immediate vicinity). A cop car sits in the entrance to a new development of cluster homes on the South side of Whitney Rd., called The Schneider Reserve. Here's a map: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=41.342883,-81.808856&num=1&t=h&ie=UTF8&ll=41.343128,-81.808362&spn=0.002976,0.004823&z=18 . The cop usually uses K- or Ka-type radar, so you can pick him up from a long distance if you have a radar detector. The cop usually guns toward the West, into the oncoming Eastbound traffic on Whitney.

On route 82 & Webster rd at night @ gas station.   Strongsville, Ohio

With plenty of traffic headed east bound on route 82, coming off of I-71. The speed limit is 35 MPH with a nice down grade hill. The Strongsville police are sitting faithfully at night at route 82 & Webster Rd in the dark, at that closed station/auto repair shop on the corner. I come through there late at night and my radar detector goes off 3 out of 4 nights, and out of the darkness, there they are.
