Terrace Park is a speed trap from start to finish. This is how they partially finace the department. The last data I was given a couple years ago showed just over $130,000 in tickets issued. Any time day or night. Pay attention to the changing speeds. They usually sit pretty close to a reduced speed sign and wait for you to not slow down.

State Route US50 near Elm Street   Terrace Park, Ohio

All along US Rt. 50 East or West bound through the 1.5 mile stretch in the Village of Terrace Park, Speed limit 35mph, Strictly enforced. Cars sit in hidden pulloffs on both sides of 4-lane roadway, in Gas stations, in UDF parking lot. All and any time of day/week/year. High revenues, Respect this stretch of roadway!

State Route 50 near Elmave Avenue   Terrace Park, Ohio

4 lane U.S. highway that that starts @ 50 mph goes to 40 mph then 35 mph. Slight curves in road make good hiding places.

Officer claims "Laser" at 50 (in my case), was sure I was not doing 50 but accepted ciatation. Then discovered that the laser diatance listed on ticket was not physically possible due to no line of sight at that distance.

They hope you will pay without a challenge.

US Highway 50   Terrace Park, Ohio

Terrace Park has been identified in the past by the AAA (American Automobile Association) for issuing an excessive amount of tickets.

Signs once posted by AAA outside of the Village limits have been removed, possibly because Village is in compliance with traffic ticket rates compared to other surrounding communities.

The State of Ohio raised the speed limit on US-50 (Wooster Pike) from 25 mph to 35mph on the 4-lane traffic road with a 30,000 car daily traffic count. Terrace Park Village officials have asked the Ohio Department of Transporation to reduce the number of lanes from 4 to 2 and to reduce the posted speed limit back to 25mph.

The US-50 road is constantly patrolled bt Terrace Park Police who often hide on side roads or along side median berms to run radar.

Village of Terrace Park police at one time used to get a percentage of each ticket written, but this policy was abolished and the Police Chief replaced. No current figures are available to me for what percentage or amount of the police department is obtained through writing tickets.
