US Highway 40 near State Highway 42   West Jefferson, Ohio

Eastbound on US 40,the speed drops for no special reason 4 miles or so west of W. Jefferson 55 to 50. Shortly after,
the next drop is to 35, but you are still in the country!
Signs are visible east bound, but going west, a tree blocks
your view of the 50 sign, sometimes. Miss the 50 mph sign,
and they wait to see if you also ignore the 35 sign, so the
fine collection will increase. I may have previously sent
thisone in.

US Highway 40 near US Highway 42   West Jefferson, Ohio

Oosted speed limits drop from 55 to 50 a few miles west of city(?)a short distance closer to town, and posted speed limits drop from 50 to 35. Police wait to see if you ignore both reduced speeds before stopping you.Going west, it's the same thing in reverse, except tree branches sometimes grow over the 35 or 50 mph signs.

I-70   West Jefferson, Ohio

Got picked up by an OHP plane 2 weeks ago on westbound I-70 This was just before the Franklin County line.

I deserved it and pleaded guilty, but 2 things worth noting...
1. I was not the only one pulled over (2 other vehicles with me) and more on either side of the road and
2. Madison County made it simple to plead guilty (Flyer was included with the ticket that included clear fines, court fees, instructions for payment, etc.) and much harder to plead innocent (only a single telephone number to call with questions).

Rt. 40   West Jefferson, Ohio

Beware of the police cruiser that sits just inside the 35 MPH marker. If you're not at or below 35, even if just 36 or 37 MPH, you can kiss $85 goodbye.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
