OHP protrol this section of highway heavy and are strict. They make their living off of the military. The army leave Fort Sill on Friday to drive to Oklahoma City for the weekend and get slammed Fridays and again on Sundays on their return to base. The tickets are near to outrageous in price. There are very few bathroom stops on just about any of the main roads in OK, and most are toll roads. They make a living off of tickets.

Just when you think you are leaving Chickasha jurisdiction, the Ninnekah police will get you. Ninnekah’s jurisdiction actually starts north of the Highway 19 junction and extends past the 277 junction. The northern most area is posted 45 but is a 4 lane that regularly has speeders. Watch out for the stop light at the 19 junction, it changes quickly and the officers sit in the old lot on the east side of the road.

State Highway Oklahoma near State Highway 62

While coming home from Tulsa I was stopped in Chickasha, Oklahoma (South of Oklahoma City)_. Young man was amicable until I asked to see the radar. Then he got nasty. Called his supervisor, polite but unhelpful, avoid Chickasha and Verdon, Oklahoma like the plague! Young man clained I was doing 42 in a 30, hard to believe given I had just had a flat repaired and was driving extra careful. Oklahoma has too many speed traps, one more reason I am leaving this state.
