Noble, Oklahoma Speed Traps
US Highway 77 near Post Oak Road
U.S. Hwy 77 is four lanes with an additional turn lane. Between its City limits (three miles on the highway) the speed goes down pretty fast (other jurisdictional boundaries have one speed limit higher on the same road than Nobles). I used to work as a police officer in this town. Besides the unreasonable speeds, their City Manager & Chief have made the police officers have a FIVE contact quota–It doesn’t count unless it’s a traffic stop & ON PAPER (either ticket or warning). This is a town of 5800 but a pretty busy highway. If the officer doesn’t get his five contacts, he is "sub-standard" and gets written up along with his supervisor. Noble is just to the south of Norman, a city of 100,000 & their officers have a three contact rule.
Highway 77
Highway 77 is the "main street" of noble and a natural place for cops to sit. It’s a rare occurance for me to go through Noble without seeing at least one cop sitting on this road. The most frequented soliciting spot for our boys in blue is the 7-11 just over the hill into town where the speed limit drops to a sadistic 35mph. These guys also like to choose their own prices for tickets, I got a ticket (on mother’s day no doubt) and the ticket had a $300 scratched out and replaced by $222… guess he realized $300 was a little bit too unbelievable. My point: DON’T GO TO NOBLE! and if you have to… GO THE SPEED LIMIT!

Not just speed, but ticket traps…..hidden or near-invisible stop signs where least expected…..
