State Highway 3

The City of Rattan, in southern Oklahoma just east of Atoka on Highway 3, population 750, runs a speed trap to pay for local government. They have extended their city limits along the highway and will nail you as you come from the east going toward the west. There is only one sign that lowers the speed limit to from 65 to 45, and they get you as you slow down to the 45 level. Oklahoma recently raised all of its fines for speeding. 1 to 10 mph over the limt will cost you $150, and 11 to 15 over the limit will cost you $190. And it goes up from there. The local cops will NOT cut you any slack becase their salaries come from fines. Slow down and pay attention!
