Collingwood, Ontario Speed Traps
Entering the *new* by-pass (with roundabouts) in Collingwood
In their "wisdom", the Town of Collingwood has decided to post a ridiculous speed limit (50 KMH) both entering/leaving the new by-pass coming towards and leaving the roundabouts portion of the new highway …. seems it has turned into a copper smorgasbord. The sad part is the speed limit there should be 80 KMH, and everybody except the ‘powers-that-be’ know it …. absolutely ridiculous.
Kings Highway 26
OPP running East and West bound leaving there radar guns on. Watch out as they will follow you.
all entrances to this town are speed traps
excessively long 50 and 60 km/hr zones which nab a lot of out of town drivers. you have to be patient here.
On Highway 26, west side of Town of Collingwood
Speed limit is 50 km, in spite of the fact this is a Provincial highway. Side roads in the area are 60 km. Heavy use of Ontario Provincial Police patrols cars and radar traps between Harbour Street (near Cranberry Inn) and the Georgian Manor.
Pretty River Parkway (Hwy. 26)
After the bend (see other entry), the OPP favours the hand-held radar in front of the Provincial Court House. The officer stands directly in front of a large tree so that he’s not detected by drivers approaching from far off.
