Hwy 42 between Coquille and Myrtle Point
2 to 3 Coquille PD cars sit in driveways along Highway 43 behind tall weeds and parked vehicles. They must work in conjunction with each other since all will be out writting tickets at once. They also put up trunk lid to hide lights and identity from passers by.
Collier Street near 10th Street
Coquille city officers sit on Collier awaiting someone to do an incomplete stop at the four way stop on Tenth Street. Also watching for crosswalk violations. View blocked from tenth street by hedges and raised front yards. Again ticketing for not stopping long enough up to 10 seconds according to some local officers.
State Highway 42 South near South city limit
The police cars hide behind structures or bushes. I have not been stopped,but people are complaining more often about unfair tickets.
State Highway 42 near Mile Marker 13
Driving west on 42 between Roseburg and Coos Bay: approaching the town of Coquille at about mile marker 13, the speed limit drops from 55 to 45 (bowling lanes,liquor store on the right – Coquille Police patrol car often spotted in this area or across the highway at Mast Bros. Towing), then drops to 35 approaching town. Highway bypasses downtown district, then speed limit goes back up to 45 passing the carwash/gas station/delimart on the right. At the 42S turn off, the speed limit resumes to 55 for about 100 yards, then drops to 40 where it passes Adventist Church on the right and on the left is the Cedar Point turn off to Roseburg Forest Products mill (patrol car sometimes spotted here) then speed limit jumps to 55 again. Note: Beware when making any turns into the town of Coquille: There are two 4-way stops that are frequently staked out. Anyone who doesn’t sit at the stop sign for 5 seconds is subject to a "failure to obey traffic control device" ticket and if any headlight, tail light, turn signal light is burned out, a ticket for "defective lighting" ($145 – this is the one my husband got dinged with) will be issued.
