Strictly speaking, not a speed trap, but designed to trap motorists who do not yield to pedestrians in cross-walks. If you are driving west (say) and somebody steps off the south curb (on your left — across the street from you), you are supposed to stop even if you’re already only 10 or 15 feet from the intersection going the legal 25 mph. That means coming to a screeching stop for somebody who won’t be in front of you for at least 5 seconds or more.

I am the cop. This is the worst spot for those of you who love to speed and then whine when you get pulled over. We have monitored this spot for 25 years and you still don’t slow down, so who’s fault is it?. We always treat people with respect here, however I can’t say the same about some of the people we pull over.

If you get a ticket in the city limits for speed, It’s your fault not the cops! Oh by the way, stop at our traffic control devices also and the speed on the bridge is 35 not 45!
