The speed limit in Klamath is 55 and the CHP patrols regularly from the Klamath River Bridge north towards Crescent City. Slow down – 55 means 55! Across the bridge to the south the limit is 65 to the Del Norte/Humboldt County line, but the CHP also watches that section closely.

Many friends have gotten tickets within 1-3 miles of the Klamath River, where the 4 golden bear statues guard the bridge. Remember:"Close to the bear, beware!" Approx. 20 miles south of Crescent City. Highway patrol on duty almost always in front of the Klamath Indian Reservation, usually within 1 mile of the bridge. They mean 55 MPH!

Going in both directions North/South. CHP is almost always there. SOUTHBOUND – Be careful from the nothern township limits to at least the Klamath bridge going south. If you are headed north make sure you drop your speed down to the posted 55mph prior to get to the Klamath brigde.
