State Route 97 near Bridge and Laundromat before entering town

Littlestown, PennsylvaniaJun 30, 20060 Comments

Entering the south end of Littlestown along Route 97, at the bottom of a steep hill the speed limit drops from 45 to 25 as you cross a small bridge. Look for white lines painted in the road for VASCAR use. (The PA Highway Depts rated speed limit for this road is 35 mph, but because of a town ordinance all speed limits in the borough must be 25 mph or lower).

This is merely the worst speed trap, ALL main roads crossing this town are at least moderately, if not heavily monitored. This includes South 97 (Queen Street) listed above, as well as 97 North at the auto dealership, 194 King Street) East at the borough limits and 194 West at the Kennies Markets grocery store.

As a side note, this TINY town was rated in the top 10 speed traps in the US on NATIONAL news 10 years ago. How it has not yet made mention in this site does completely shock me, but it deserves to be listed, especially given the heavy tourism traffic bound for Gettysburg crossing north/south, and the shopping traffic bound for Hanover, PA going east/west .
