Boulder City, Nevada Speed Traps
35 miles south down hwy 95 Boulder City
Boulder City has secretly expanded it’s city limits to about 35 miles south down hwy 95 in order to trap tourists for speeding, hence increasing their local revenue. Tourists are easy targets because they know they are unlikely to return and appear before the judge to protest the citation. Look out for a female officer, she targets tourists. She hides behind other cars so she can’t be seen and she uses the new instant on/off gun that foils the effectiveness of radar detectors. Look out for traps from the intersection of hwy 93 & 95 in Boulder to about 35 miles south on Hwy 95 to Searchlight.
Boulder City
All tourist be careful there are to many sneaky speed traps in Boulder City, and the police enjoy giving speeding tickets for 1- 2 miles an hour over the speed limit. This small town of 15000 population has a full police force and 4 traffic cops. They need revenue to support this many officers and job justification. It is a nice town but be advise to stay away unless you have too much $$$$ and want to pay a fine.
Adams Boulevard near Georgia Street
Area is a school zone that is strictly enforced at 15 MPH which is no problem enforcing school zones. However when school is out or otherwise numerous people have been stopped for doing 1 to 2 miles over the posted limit. Not 5-10 but one (1) to two (2). No fighting it just simply pay your $100.00+ because they don’t care. People have gone on local radio shows telling of these stories of 1-2 mile tickets and the high fines. All that the Police Say is "You were speeding, I’m doing my job, you’re wrong, sign here"
US Highway 95 near railroad pass casino

US Highway 93 near Hoover Dam
The speed limit is 35 mph on this stretch of highway coming down the mountain, which is unrealistic and well below what one would expect. City police target tourists coming from Hoover Dam. My ticket was for traveling 63 mph in a 35 mph zone the price was $227.00. The officer admitted the tickets in Boulder are expensive, he told me "the casinos make all the money in the area but the local community does not see any of it."
