Longitude: -86.177
Description: Carmel police often set along I-465 at the Marion-Hamilton county line where their jurisdiction begins. This is just past 96th Street east-bound, and about a half mile west of Keystone, west-bound. I've seen more west-bound though.

Be careful at night going South past 86th and Keystone also. It looks like smooth sailing when you are rolling up the hill. On the other side there on the right late at night police cruisers will park near that on ramp. You won't see them until it's too late, and there is a desire to floor it and hit that light off in the distance.

The new portion of 116th Street between US 31 and Rangeline has just opened with 4 lanes but a 30 mph speed limit

It is a shame that the residence of Carmel do not get to have police protection or presence in their neighborhood to keep down speeds where it may very well save the residence's lives and property. Instead they sit on this section of interstate for an opportunistic chance to give a motorist that is passing through a small section of I-465 a revenue boosting ticket.

Absolutely true, I try to avoid this stretch of 465 for this exact reason. If you go 55 on 465 you are going to get killed, simple as that. No amount of speed enforcement is going to slow the pace 465 down. If Carmel really wanted to improve road safety in this area they would start busting people for lane change without signal, tailgating, passing on the breakdown lane, and all the other flat-out dangerous driving behavior that I have seen in this area.

Carmel Police rarely sit on 465 except when they are not very busy. They don't ticket anyone doing 56, as they usually give 12-15mph on the Interstate (officer discretion). Carmel has No "quotas" for tickets so there is no need to have heavier enforcement at the end of a month. These are all untrue perceptions.
