Probably the biggest speed trap in the nation if you ask me. Coopertown has no property tax and they have very little sales tax revenue as there just aren't that many businesses other than a handful of gas stations in town. I've never been ticketed, but I seldom go through there. I live in Pleasant View and do most of my shopping in Clarksville (straight up 41A and never on I-24 to get there, either) or go to Ashland City. Springfield is losing a lot of business from Pleasant View residents because they simply refuse to drive thru Coopertown.

1.Although I have not received a citation, I still find the practices of the Cooper Town Law enforcement (term used loosely) to be completely outrageous. I recently moved to Robertson county from Cheatham county. Thankfully my new home is outside the Cooper Town City limits. I currently refuse to purchase anything from any business that is located within the City limits of Cooper Town. I can hardly believe this is allowed to go on in the USA. The speed trap seems to go against what the USA stands for.....Justice, Serve and protect the public? I see the police cars almost every time I travel in the area. I actually drive out of my way to avoid Cooper Town. The speed trap seems an unfortunate waste of time, effort and resources. It stagers the mind to think about what might be accomplished if that same amount of effort was applied to something positive or constructive. WAKE UP COOPER TOWN!!! I never thought the day would come when it would be necessary to warn my children and friends to beware of the police and court systems in my county. It pains me to say, but I feel that I should teach my children to fear the police and elected folks rather than give them respect. I believe that if help is really needed the residents and citizens traveling in Cooper Town are better off not using the police in Cooper town.

Now they are off the interstate and concentrating on the exit ramps and bridge. They are also on Rt 49 and Rt 431 very heavy.

I was nearly killed by a Coopertown Police Department officer due to this ridiculous speed trap. I was driving on I24 West in the left lane, when suddenly a Coopertown Police Department officer came flying out from where he was concealed in the trees on the median of I24, directly in front of me, in pursuit of a car that was ahead of me. I had to slam on my brakes, and nearly lost control of my vehicle. It scared me to death! The officer didn't slow down, didn't stop, and if there had been a car directly behind me or he had pulled out a fraction of a second later or a touch slower than he did, I am absolutely convinced I would have been killed. The Coopertown Police Department needs to be banned from I24, before their stupidity and greed gets someone killed.

This area is a notorious speed trap. Coopertown, the local city, has hit me twice in the last six months. Counting the State Troopers, Thats three in that area in one year. Thank god the locals forgot to file the apropriate paperwork with the state and it looks like the two local ones will get thrown out of court.

Any road close to Coopertown on Exit 24. Local sheriff runs speed traps even on exit ramps.

I agree. This is a very popular area for law enforcement. They are there more during the day also now.
