101 North @ Patterson On-Ramp in the A.M.
Watch out in the morning when approaching the Patterson on-ramp on the 101 North. I drive by this spot every weekday morning on my way to work around 7:50 or 7:55 and there is a motorcycle cop aiming his gun at oncoming traffic. They sit in the space between the on-ramp and the highway, just past the 217 overpass. I see a guy there probably three times during the week.
I also drove by that spot this past Saturday at about 10AM and saw one then too.
Not a terribly smart place for a spot for a speedtrap IMO, at least during the week, as traffic generally doesn’t allow you to go over 75 MPH anyways. I usually drive a bit under 75MPH and never arouse any attention. Just make sure you don’t choose this spot to do some high-speed weaving and you should be fine.
I’ve also seen a bike-cop on the other side of the freeway at the same spot many times during the weekends.
Just like good ol’ cops to fulfill their quota by picking on morning-time commuters who are just trying to get to their jobs and pay income tax.
