State Route 1 near Dover Air Base
I’ve been noticing lately the local police doing laser enforcement again. They sit off the shoulder against some trees on the southbound side of Route One just about seven miles south of the Dover Air Force Base. It’s hard to see them until too late. The speed limit is 55, but traffic easily and safely does 70+. They have been using a marked white car with no roof lights, and a dark colored unmarked dodge intrepid or similar car. They only have a couple of cops now, so it varies when you will see them. They used to have more cops and strictly enforced the 55 mph limit as they gave out additional tickets for not signaling when pulling over,etc.. They were taken off the road by the State, now they seem to be back. Tourists going to the beaches beware of the "55 mph strictly enforced" signs there. NOTE: local towns in De. get to keep the base fine amount on a ticket, which causes strict enforcement.
