1604 Loop near US Highway 181

Elmendorf, TexasSep 11, 20052 Comments

This isn’t as much a trap as it is impropriety. The Elmendorf Police officer can be found in his city car running radar as far away as 11 miles out of his jurisdiction. I haven’t seen anyone pulled over outside his jurisdiction, but it makes one wonder why he would be that far out of his territory, parked on the side of the highway, actively running his instant on radar unit. If anyone else knows how he can do this, please post your comments here. By the way: I understand that the police officer(s) in Elmendorf are unpaid and have no budget, yet they have a new car every year.

This comment was from 8 years ago, and the timings about right with my personal experience. I was in Canada Verde (a town about 5 miles outside of Elmendorf city limits) on FM 1303 headed south in a 45 mile zone. A unit pulls up behind me with lights flashing, siren sounding, and I pull over to the side. Officer walks up and I notice the "Elmendorf" patch on his uniform. He asks me the classic "Do you know why I pulled you over?" I answered "To ask me for directions back to your legal jurisdiction.. Tell you what, if you'll follow me to the Floresville DPS Office I'm sure one of the State Troopers will be happy to explain to you where the Elmendorf city limits are." I put my car in drive and drove off and kept heading south. He followed me for about a mile with his lights flashing but no siren, then he turned them off, and turned around and drove away. I mentioned it to one of the deputies that evening, don't think anything ever became of it.
