State Route SR528 E Beeline/Beachline near Banana River Drive
Inbound to Cape Canaveral, Cruise Terminals, and Cocoa Beach areas. Brevard Sherriffs patrol this road heavily, targeting the many tourists frequenting the Cruise Terminals and beach areas.
This is a four lane highway with long, clear stretches of road and very few exits until you reach City of Cape Canaveral. Posted limit is 55mph, but normal flow of traffic runs 60+.
The trap is set below a crest in the road, right before you reach the Banana River Drive exit. It’s impossible to see the Unit if you are traveling eastbound while it’s in this position.
Brevard SD rely on standard Ka radar but typical detectors will not fire until you reach the top of the crest at which point it’s too late.
Radar detectors are REQUIRED equipment in Brevard county, and a high end model would probably detect this trap.
