Southwest corridor of I-285, just South of Atlanta
East Point is a small municipality just outside the City of Atlanta. They have jurisdiction over the southwest corridor of Interstate 285 which circles Atlanta. EPPD officers are particularly aggressive during morning rush hour in pulling over speeders. Obviously this is a tremendous source of revenue for that small town.

This is definitely a speed trap. The problem foes beyond the ticket from the officer. I was ticketed for speeding while I was trapped between two tractor trailers from over a 1000 feet away in the second lane from the wall on a four lane stretch by an officer who was sitting in the right emergency lane, using a speed detector. He would have had to clock me through two other lanes of traffic during steady traffic from 1000 feet away. I believe my car (1996 Caprice) was stereotyped. To add injury to insult, I had certified experience as a radar gun operator and the judge would not listen to my testimony, only fining me $200. East Point needs to be investigated. Additionally, the tickets increase during certain times of the year (holidays).
